What happened to Falck Sykkelregister?

Falck Sykkelregister was founded by the Federation of Norwegian Financial Industry (FNH) as a national bike register in 1993. From then until 2017 it was the only national, FG-approved bike register in Norway. It was certified based on statistics showing that bike registers and smart stickers reduce annual bike thefts.

In 2017 the Falck group decided to divest non-core business areas, and Falck Sykkelregister was sold to Securmark. The IT system had become outdated, and to maintain FG approval Securmark had to build an entirely new system in 2018.

A modern successor: BikeMember

When Falck sold the register in 2017, the door opened for other operators to become FG-approved. BikeMember AS was founded that same July. The founder previously worked as CFO at Falck Redning and, with detailed knowledge of the old register, started a competitor to Securmark. BikeMember was designed as a modern successor — newer, better and more user-friendly.

We were the first bike register to have our IT platform FG-approved in 2017, which makes BikeMember the oldest FG-approved bike register in Norway today.

A timeline

As of April 2022 there are three FG-approved bike registers in Norway: BikeMember, Solid Sykkelregister and NAF Sykkelregister.
