Did you know we verify the frame number on every bike?

One of the most important services Bikemember offers is frame-number verification. This matters a lot in the fight against bike theft.

The frame number is a unique identifier engraved or molded into the bike's frame. With the frame number you can register your bike and report it stolen to the police. If your bike is found, the police or the finder can use the frame number to identify it and return it to you.

What happens when you register your bike

The bike is linked to your account and gets a unique Bike-ID number. You receive a sticker in the mail, which is linked to the frame number. You can add brand, model and colour as well as upload photos.

Bikemember also lets you check if a bike you are about to buy is reported stolen — by looking up its Bike-ID against our database.

How verification works

• The system compares the information you enter with the rest of our register.
• We require photo confirmation of the frame number.
• We check whether the bike is reported stolen.
• If everything is in order we send you a Bike-ID sticker confirming the bike has been identified and verified.

Why verification matters

Verification is required by insurance companies and is essential so bike owners get the insurance coverage they need. If a frame number does not match our records you get a chance to correct it, and we follow up by email or phone.
